Thanksgiving: Old Traditions and New Celebrations
This year’s holiday season is going to look and feel different. As gut-wrenching as it may be, one of the easiest ways to lessen the spread of COVID-19 is for as many people as possible to stay home this holiday season. That means it is going to be more important than ever to find new ways to celebrate and give thanks.
To help Philadelphia seniors stay connected this holiday season, Independence Blue Cross is hosting a virtual culinary series called “Thanksgiving: Old Traditions and New Celebrations.”
The complimentary three-part series will take place in November and feature chefs and other icons of the Philadelphia food industry. During each event, the chefs will prepare some of their favorite family meals and discuss how they are bringing nostalgic traditions into their new Thanksgiving celebrations.
November 16 from 7-8:30 p.m.
A discussion between the Top Chef contestant, Sylva Senat, and Michael Klein, food writer at The Philadelphia Inquirer. Join them as they talk about Senat’s incredible career working in France, San Juan, New York, and ultimately Philadelphia, and show you how to prepare a delicious meal.
November 19 from 7-8:30 p.m.
A cooking class and Q&A with celebrity chef Jennifer Carroll, and Hope Cohen, producer, author, and TV host. Join them as they prepare one of Carroll’s signature Thanksgiving dishes and talk about her career and experience on Bravo’s Emmy and James Beard Award-winning television show Top Chef.
November 23 from 7-8:30 p.m.
A cooking class and Q&A with Iron Chef Jose Garces, and Hope Cohen, producer, author, and TV host. Join them as they prepare one of Garces’s favorite family meals and talk about his career as an owner and operator of over a dozen restaurants, a thriving event/catering division and the non-profit Garces Foundation.
Registrants will receive a Zoom link one day prior to each event. Only one registration is required for all three events. To register below, please change the 0 to the number of registrations. The additional fields will not populate until this is updated.
